Orchestra Conductor
Artistic expression through igniting imagination and uniting creativity
Debussy’s “Afternoon of a Faun” is the musical story of a young deer slowly awakening under the dappled sunlight in a forest. It is a sultry, passionate, drowsy moment as the oboe’s melody lures the faun out of its sleep. After I conducted a performance of this masterpiece, the oboist came to me and said, “When you cued me to enter with my solo, I could have just melted in your arms.” The oboist and the story and the music became one.

An orchestra consists of diverse cultures and Dr. Egolf embraces these differences in insight and expression. She works in partnership with the musicians, bringing out individual ideas to create unified artistry.
She then includes the audience in this creative process encouraging their participation, and community is created between performer and listener. This engaged audience is eager to return for the next concert.
